TIME

We can book your sessions any day of the week and I recommend starting first thing in the morning around sunrise, or later in the day, near sunset. This is considered a magic hour and will give us the best natural light to photograph. For studio shots, obviously, any time of the day will work. When you’re ready to book your session, please send me a preliminary email lisa@saltydogpetphoto.com so we can schedule a telephone conversation to discuss your needs and ideas.

DEPOSIT

To reserve your date, a $100 deposit is due at the time of booking which will be applied to your balance. The remaining balance is due on the date of your session. Please note the deposit is non-refundable if you choose not to attend your scheduled session.  I also require a signed contract and model release which will be emailed prior to the session and must be available on the day of the session.  I am happy to reschedule in the event of inclement weather or illness, but I ask that you give me as much notice as possible.

GROOMING

To prepare, I recommend quick grooming prior to the session to ensure your pet is looking his or her best!  A quick brushing, cleaning the eyes, trimming the nails, etc. If your pet has tear stains under their eyes, it is worthwhile purchasing special products to eliminate the reddish stains.

EXERCISE

A well-exercised pet is a well-behaved pet, so it’s helpful to take your dog for a walk prior to the session. It’s also a good idea to feed him or her a little less than normal a few hours before the shoot – when a dog is a little hungry, he or she will be more inclined to behave well for treats!

PROPS

I will bring water, a bowl, and some treats.  If your pet has its' favorites treat please bring some with you. You’re more than welcome to bring any props you think will add to the photographs! A dapper collar, favorite toys and cute accessories can enhance the session but aren’t necessary. Please feel free to ask us for advice on what would look best.

ASSISTANCE

Your pet or pets are most comfortable with their owners close by so you will make the best photographer’s assistant!  I will often ask for your help with directing your pet, gaining their attention and keeping them focused. If you have concerns about your dog being off-leash during the session, please use the leash. However, if you plan to do so, we recommend a thin style of leash such as a retractable Flexi leash, as it will be less noticeable and easier to remove in post-processing.  While the primary focus of this session is your pet,  I absolutely welcome you to join in for some of the shots!

The remainder of your session fee (minus the $100 deposit) will be due at the session. Session pricing range starts at $199.00 - please call to discuss your vision so we can determine what package is right for you and your furry family member.

The total cost includes:

  • Professional retouching and editing of your images.

  • A private proofing gallery of edited images on the website.
